Pool Health Check

A full written report on the true condition of your pool — equipment, water, and everything in between.

Two situations where a pool health check is worth every cent

The Pool Pals health check is a proper inspection — not a quick look-over. We go through every major component and give you a written report you can actually use.

Pre-purchase inspection

You're buying a house with a pool

Pools are a serious investment — and a seriously expensive thing to get wrong. Before you settle, you want to know whether the equipment is on its last legs, whether the water's been looked after, and whether you're inheriting a functioning pool or an expensive problem.

Our pre-purchase health check gives you a written report you can use in negotiations or just to plan what needs attention once you move in. Your conveyancer and solicitor will thank you.

Existing owner · peace of mind

You're worried about your equipment

Maybe the pump sounds different lately. Maybe your water's been harder to balance. Maybe the pool's just been running fine for years and you realise you've never had anyone check the equipment properly.

Our health check tells you exactly where things stand — what's in good shape, what's showing wear, and what might need attention in the near future. No guesswork, no waiting for something to fail at the worst moment.

A thorough inspection — top to bottom

Every Pool Pals health check covers the same comprehensive list. Nothing is skipped because it looks fine from the outside.

Water chemistry

Full test of pH, chlorine/sanitiser, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabiliser, and salt level (if applicable). We record everything and explain what it means.

Pump condition

We check the pump for noise, vibration, flow rate, and visible signs of wear or seal failure. A struggling pump is often the first sign of bigger problems to come.

Filter condition

We inspect filter pressure, media condition (for sand filters), cartridge state (for cartridge filters), or DE grid condition. Filter health directly affects water clarity and chemical efficiency.

Salt cell (if applicable)

For saltwater pools, we inspect the chlorinator cell for scaling, degradation, and output level. Cells are expensive to replace — catching wear early saves money.

Visible pipework

We check accessible pipework for leaks, cracks, or fittings that are showing wear. We'll note anything that looks like it might become a problem, even if it's not failing yet.

Heating system (if present)

If your pool has a heat pump or solar heating, we'll check it's operating correctly and flag any obvious issues with connections or performance.

Automatic cleaner (if present)

We check your robotic, suction, or pressure cleaner is functioning properly and that the connections, wheels, and drive systems are in good order.

Pool surface & waterline

We inspect the pool surface for cracks, peeling, staining, or calcium build-up around the waterline — early signs that can indicate chemistry issues or surface deterioration.

A written Pool Pals report — emailed same day

After every health check, we send you a full written report covering everything we found. It's written in plain English — not jargon — so you can actually understand what's going on with your pool.

If you're buying a house, this report can go straight to your solicitor or be used in settlement discussions. If you're an existing owner, it gives you a clear baseline and a priority list for anything that needs attention.

We'll also flag anything that needs urgent attention versus things to keep an eye on — so you know what's a priority and what can wait.

The report arrives in your inbox the same day as the inspection. No waiting a week for a PDF. If you need it urgently for a property settlement, just let us know when you book.

Pool health check — your questions answered

For a standard residential pool, typically 60–90 minutes depending on what equipment is present. If you have heating, an automatic cleaner, and a salt system, it'll take a little longer to be thorough. We'd rather take the time to get it right than rush through.
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people book a health check. The written report documents the condition of the pool and all equipment, which you can use in settlement negotiations or simply to understand what you're taking on. Let us know at booking if you need it on a specific date or urgently.
We'll document exactly what we found and give you an honest assessment of how urgent it is. We're not a repairs company — our job is to give you accurate information, not to sell you work. If something needs a specialist, we'll tell you what kind of tradesperson you need.
We'd recommend being home for the first visit, especially for pre-purchase inspections — it gives you a chance to ask questions in real time. For existing owners who just want a condition check, gate access is usually fine. Either way, the written report covers everything clearly.

Don't guess. Get the full picture.
